Medical Assistant

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (This list doesn't include all duties assigned)

Prepare patients for examination:

Obtain blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, height, and weight.

Review and update medication list.

Chart in our Electronic Medical Records application.

Perform procedures such as EKGs, injections, and protimes.

Assist the physician with examinations, treatment, and minor surgeries as instructed.

Schedule patients for hospital surgeries, admissions, and diagnostic procedures, obtaining pre-certification, prior authorization, and/or referral if necessary.

Answer phone calls relating to clinical issues.

Return messages.

Contact patients regarding test results.

Maintain stocked, neat, and clean exam rooms and common work areas on a daily basis.

Keep inventory of medical supplies and vaccines, notifying the manager when ordering is necessary.

Assist in complying with and maintaining OSHA regulations.

Abide by the rules and regulations as set forth by the Board of Nursing in the State of Tennessee.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A successful candidate will be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Family Physicians of Greeneville hires only non-tobacco users.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Currently licensed as a LPN in the State of Tennessee. BLS certification required. Phlebotomy and clinical experience preferred but not required.
